Here's how we rank the teams in order of quality, with no regard given to draw.

1. Vanderbilt (45-15), No. 2 RPI (10 strength of schedule), expected record based on runs scored/allowed: 45-15

The Commodores are 5-0 in NCAA play, scoring 34 runs while allowing 15.

2. Texas (47-15), No. 5 RPI, (28 SOS), expected record: 50-12

The Longhorns have allowed a CWS-low 3.13 runs per game.

3. Tennessee (50-16), No. 3 RPI (12 SOS), expected record: 48-18

The Vols' 98 home runs are the most of any team in Omaha

4. Arizona (45-16), No. 8 RPI (19 SOS), expected record: 43-18

Seven Wildcat regulars have on-base averages of .417 or better. 

5. Mississippi State (45-16), No. 6 RPI (8 SOS), expected record: 42-19

No team in the tournament has two stars with as much postseason experience as CF Rowdey Jordan and RF Tanner Allen

6. Stanford (38-15), No. 7 RPI (25 SOS), expected record: 33-20

Brendan Beck and Alex Williams--the Cardinal's top two starters--both had sub-.200 averages against, and a combined 4.8 K/BB ratio.

7. North Carolina State (35-18), No. 16 RPI (20 SOS), expected record: 32-21

Six State players, lead by Luka Tresh and Tyler McDonough  (15 each) had double-digit home runs, even though the Wolfpack played just 53 games.

8. Virginia (35-25), No. 28 RPI (11 SOS), expected record: 38-22

Six different Cavalier pitchers have started Virginia's eight NCAA tournament games.
