Kentucky splits doubleheader but takes series from TCU

Kentucky continues to be perhaps the SEC’s most pleasant surprise, as the Wildcats (10-2) beat Baylor, 5-1, in a seven-inning game on Saturday to clinch a series win over the country’s 16th-ranked team. Tyler Bosma pitched six innings of one-run ball and Darren Williams added two scoreless relief innings, while Chase Estep hit another home run.

TCU salvaged the series with a 12-2 win, but the ‘Cats’ Jacob Plastiak, Adam Fogel and Hunter Jump all homered in Game Two.

Tennessee tops Baylor in Texas

Texas may have held Tennessee’s bats down on Friday but that didn’t carry over until Saturday, when Christian Scott homered and drove in two to lead a 12 hit effort as Kirby Connell added 4 2/3 innings of one-run relief.

The Vols (9-1) have now scored 10 runs or more in seven games and have tallied 133 for the season.

Rebels suffer first defeat

Ole Miss’s lineup is one of the country’s best, but UCF pitchers Connor Staine and Chase Central combined on a three-hit shutout of the Rebels, who wasted seven scoreless innings from starter John Gaddis, who fanned eight.

Texas’s pitching silences LSU

Texas remained unbeaten after Tristan Stevens shut out the powerful Tiger lineup for seven innings. The Tigers managed two hits, including two each from Tre’ Morgan and Cade Doughty, but stranded 12 runners.

Nearly-perfect Holton helps Vanderbilt sweep doubleheader

Vanderbilt freshman Carter Holton was perfect for six innings until things came apart in the seventh inning of a seven-inning game, which the Commodores (9-2) won, 12-1. Holton struck out nine and allowed two hits and a walk, while his teammates rapped 19 hits, including home runs by Carter Young and Tate Kolwyck.

In the nightcap, Javier Vaz’s grand slam capped an 18-hit effort while Hunter Owen got the win with six strikeouts in three scoreless relief innings.

Georgia loses series to rival Georgia Tech

Georgia managed just four hits as Georgia Tech went to Athens and blanked the Bulldogs by a 7-0 count. Georgia starter Liam Sullivan struggled, allowing two runs in 2 2/3 innings, as did relief ace Jaden Woods, who allowed two earned runs over three innings.

Tulane walks off Mississippi State

A day after State went to New Orleans and embarrassed Tulane, the Green Wave turned the tables as Ethan Groff’s walk-off home run off Mikey Tepper evened the series. Preston Johnson had a quality start (three earned in six innings with nine strikeouts) and State led 10-3 at one point, but Jack Walker allowed five runs without getting an out to let Tulane back in the game.

Arkansas sweeps doubleheader to win series vs. SELA

The Razorbacks outscored SE Louisiana 15-3 in the two games, including eight runs in the final two innings in Game Two.
