Vanderbilt, SEC dominate Baseball America's list of top 50 high school prospects for the 2022 MLB Draft

Nineteen of BA's top 50 high school players are SEC commits, including a whopping seven from Vanderbilt.

Baseball America released its top 50 high school prospects for the 2022 MLB Draft, a list that contains 19 players committed to nine different Southeastern Conference schools, including seven Vanderbilt commits.

In addition to Vandy, LSU (three commits), Ole Miss and Kentucky (two each) and Arkansas, South Carolina, Florida, Mississippi State and Auburn (one each) were also represented. 

Vanderbilt had the two top SEC commits on the list in Georgians Dylan Lesko, a pitcher from Buford High and Druw Jones, an outfielder from Wesleyan High in Norcross. 

The Commodores will likely have a tough time getting either to campus; Lesko was selected as the Gatorade National High School Player of the Year this past season, becoming the first ever non-junior to win that award. 

Jones, meanwhile, is the son of former Atlanta Braves All-Star Andruw Jones.  

Here's a list of SEC commitments by school, with BA's ranking in parenthesis:

Arkansas: Jayson Jones, 3B (8)

Auburn: Hayden Murphy, RHP (20)

Florida: Luke Heyman, C (33)

Kentucky: Tommy Specht, OF (26), Caden Dana, RHP (43)

LSU: Jared Jones, C (22), Tucker Toman, 3B (28), Mikey Romero, SS (40)

Mississippi State: Dakota Jordan, OF (35)

Ole Miss: Jackson Ferris, LHP (6), Roman Anthony (29)

South Carolina: Eli Jerzembeck, RHP (31)

Vanderbilt: Lesko (3), Jones (4), Brandon Barriera, LHP (7), Noah Schultz, LHP (9), Andrew Dutkanych (16), Sal Stewart, 3B (18), Ryan Clifford, OF (30)

SEC schools accounted for 42.3% of the college commitments; six on the list, including No. 1 Temarr Johnson, are uncommitted.
