Alabama coach Nick Saban listed running bak Brian Robinson’s rib injury as day-to-day in his press conference Thursday night.
Robinson suffered a rib injury after picking up 75 yards on 14 carries en route to his second touchdown of the year for the 'Tide in their narrow 31-29 win at Florida.
Alabama will be 45.5-point favorites at home against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, so Saban would likely not be in a rush to play him on Saturday--that is, if further injury is in question--but Saban was fervent as always in emphasizing the importance of each game.
If Robinson cannot go on Saturday, the only other back who got carries last week was sophomore Jase McClellan, who has rushed for 66 yards on 22 carries with a touchdown on the whole of the season.
Trey Sanders, another sophomore back, has carried the ball 15 times for 71 yards and a touchdown over the season although all of these carries were in blowout wins.
Robinson’s rib injury appears not to be severe, which is good news for an Alabama team that struggles to run the ball as well as it has in past years. Saturday’s game could provide an opportunity for Robinson to gel with his offensive line or give players like McClellan and Sanders a chance to show what they can do.
