Florida State vs. LSU: 2022 College Football Week 1 Preview and Prediction

Southeastern 14 previews a Power 5 nonconference matchup between the ACC's Florida State Seminoles vs. the SEC's LSU Tigers.
The Brian Kelly era is set to kick off for the LSU Tigers. The former Notre Dame head coach is trying to right the ship for LSU after the program went off the rails under Ed Orgeron, only two seasons removed from a national championship.
LSU is still trying to decide who its quarterback will be. Myles Brennan, Jayden Daniels, and Garrett Nussmier are all three under consideration. Regardless of which QB gets the job, they'll have an immensely talented wide receiver core to throw to. Kayshon Boutte, Jaray Jenkins, Jack Bech, Malik Nabers, and Brian Thomas are all explosive wide outs that LSU will benefit from greatly.
LSU has a young offensive line but experienced running backs John Emery and Noah Cain look to make that young OL look good early on.
Florida State started the 2021 football season 0 - 4. The Seminoles went on to win 5 of their last 8 games and began to show some promise under head coach Mike Norvell. The pressure to perform is on this year for Norvell's Noles and things don't start off easy in the Superdome against the Bengal Tigers from Baton Rouge.
Norvell has an experienced QB in Jordan Travis. Travis is a dynamic dual-threat quarterback and he has his No. 1 wide receiver back in Ontaria Wilson. Travis also benefits from two Oregon transfers and offensive weapons in slot receiver Mycah Pittman Jr. & running back Tre Benson.
The FSU defense returns 9 starters and adds an FCS All-American edge rusher in Jared Verse. Florida State has experienced players at every level, like Robert Cooper on the defensive front and Jammie Robinson in the secondary. Look for this defense to pick up where it left off in the second half of 2021.
