Tennessee's leading running back listed as doubtful which puts coach Josh Heupel in a difficult position

If Tennessee wants to get a win against Pitt on Saturday then it will have to do it without running back Tiyon Evans. The community college transfer was big for the Vols as he rushed for 116 yards and o touchdown against Bowling Green last Thursday.
Coach Josh Heupel listed him as doubtful on the injury report, so the rookie head coach will have an interesting decision to make. Jabari Small shared the carries with Evans, with Small rushing 22 times for 117 yards and a score as Tennessee exploded for 326 yards on the ground.
Heupel could either lean on Small to be the feature back, emphasize quarterback Joe Milton III running the ball. The Vol quarterback carried the ball 10 times last week for two touchdowns.
Snior Marcus Pierce Jr. (eight carries, 36 yards vs. Bowling Green) could also see a larger role.
Tennessee carried the ball a whopping 64 times, which was a credit to both the speed of Heupel’s offense and its control of the game against Bowling Green. But the Vols likely will not be afforded the same luxury against the Panthers.
It will be interesting to see what Heupel will decide to do if Evans can't go on Saturday afternoon.
