Texas A&M has signed football coach Jimbo Fisher to an extension through 2031, the school announced on Wednesday.

Fisher will make $9 million a year starting next year, with raises to come, starting with a $100,000 raise for 2023.

"I have great respect for coach Fisher and his success with our student-athletes," A&M president Katherine Banks said. "His ability to bring out the best in each of them is inspirational. I am confident that he will continue to raise Texas A&M University's football program to new heights."

Fisher is 26-10 in three years in College Station, including a 9-1 mark last year. The Aggies are a consensus preseason top-10 pick for this season.

Fisher is 109-33 in 11 years overall, which included eight years at Florida State before he took the A&M job. He coached FSU to the BCS national title in 2013.

Fisher succeeded Kevin Sumlin, who was fired in 2017.

The Aggies face Kent State in their 2021 season opener on Saturday.
