Tennessee has listed Joe Milton as its starting quarterback ahead of its trip to Florida this weekend.
While many Vol fans were hoping that coach Josh Heupel would stick with Hendon Hooker ahead of their rivalry game against the Gators, Heupel listed Milton as the starter in this week’s depth chart. Milton’s completion percentage has been hovering around 50% and he has thrown for 135 yards on 35 attempts while rushing for 98 yards and three scores.
Milton started the first two games of the season before getting his shoulder banged up against Pittsburgh.
Virginia Tech transfer Hooker finished that game. Hooker could not guide the Volunteers to a win against Pittsburgh but put together over 250 combined yards and four touchdowns against Tennessee Tech in the Vols’ dominating win over the Eagles.
Tennessee has played its first three games at home, so it should be interesting to see how Milton and this up-tempo offense can perform. Although Milton has played road games in the Big 10, this will be his first in the SEC. It comes against a tough Florida defense and an intimidating crowd
The Gators held Alabama to 31 points (21 of those coming on the first drive), so Heupel will have his work cut out for him this weekend as a coach and play-caller.
