Gilbert, an instant-impact transfer from LSU, is still sidelined.

Arik Gilbert, the 6-foot-5, 248-pound wide receiver who was expected to have a big role in Georgia's offense, still isn't practicing with the team.

Various reports coming out of Georgia's weekend scrimmage indicated that Gilbert still isn't with the team. Former Georgia receiver Terrence Edwards, one of Gilbert's mentors, also addressed the situation, as reported by Saturday Down South's Adam Spencer

That, unfortunately, is a continuation of a bad-news fall camp in Athens, as several key Georgia players have missed significant practice time in August.

Gilbert caught 35 passes for 368 yards and two TDs at LSU last season. He was a consensus five-star recruit out of Georgia's Marietta High after graduating in 2020. He announced his transfer to Georgia in February.

Georgia opens its season against Clemson on Sept. 4 in a highly-anticipated matchup of preseason top-five teams.
